Slotscoop Terms of Service
These terms are an agreement between you and Sixtyfive Security Systems Ltd ("we", "us"). They cover the Slotscoop app for Mac, the slotscoop.com website, our key server at key.slotscoop.com and the Slotscoop Pro subscription (together, "Slotscoop").
By downloading, installing or using Slotscoop, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Slotscoop. Our Privacy Policy and our Acceptable Use Policy are part of these terms.
The short version
- Slotscoop runs on your Mac. Nothing you say leaves this Mac. The Privacy Policy explains exactly how.
- You get a 7-day free trial. No card, no account. It ends by itself and costs nothing.
- Pro is a subscription: $59 a year or $9 a month, tax included. It renews automatically until you cancel, and its price doesn't go up for as long as it stays active.
- Cancel anytime in Slotscoop → Settings → Plan → Manage subscription. Pro stays on until the end of the period you paid for.
- Not for you? Ask for your money back within 14 days of a first payment or a yearly renewal (section 8).
- Link, a service of Stripe, sells the subscription and takes the payment. We never see your card.
- Slotscoop suggests words and explains phrases. Both can be wrong. You decide what to say.
- Use it for your own speech, on calls where you may use it — not where outside help isn't allowed, such as exams, tests and many job interviews.
This summary helps you find your way. The full terms below are what count.
1. Who we are
Slotscoop is made and offered by Sixtyfive Security Systems Ltd, a company registered in the Republic of Cyprus under number HE 409369, with its registered office at Sokratous 2, Mesa Geitonia, 4006 Limassol, Cyprus. You can reach us at support@slotscoop.com.
2. What Slotscoop is — and what it isn't
Slotscoop is a menu-bar app for Mac. It is for people who speak English as a second language on calls:
- when you say a word in your own language in the middle of an English sentence, Slotscoop says the English word quietly in your headphones (the "whisper");
- when you get stuck in the middle of a sentence, it shows 2–3 likely words near your camera for a moment (a "hint"). During a call, you can also ask for a hint right away with the Ask for a word shortcut (⌃⌥H unless you change it in Settings); press it again for three more words;
- when the other side uses a phrase you may not know — an abbreviation, an idiom, a phrasal verb or business jargon, such as "EOD" or "circle back" — it can show the phrase near your camera with a short explanation in your language or in plain English ("Understanding"). The explanations come from a list we wrote in advance and built into the app. You can switch Understanding off in Settings.
Slotscoop does this with speech and language models — machine learning, often called AI — that run on your Mac. If you allow it, it also listens to the other side of the call, so its words fit the topic and Understanding can explain phrases. It records nothing.
Please keep in mind:
- It suggests; you decide. The words come from models. Sometimes they are wrong, out of place, or not what you meant. Slotscoop stays silent when it isn't sure, but it can't always tell. When you ask for a word, it shows the most likely words it has, even when it isn't sure. What you say on a call is your choice and your responsibility. The same goes for Understanding: it may mishear a phrase, or explain one that the speaker meant literally, and its explanations are short and general — not advice, and not always what the speaker meant. If it matters, ask them.
- It is not a translator or an interpreter. It gives single words and short explanations of common phrases, not translations of what you or others say. Don't rely on it where a wrong word could harm someone's health, safety, legal rights or money, or where a qualified interpreter or translator is needed.
- It doesn't catch every word. It may miss a pause or a word — for example with background noise, unusual words, names or strong accents.
- Hints and phrases appear on your screen. When Slotscoop notices that you are sharing your screen, it moves them to a screen you aren't sharing or, if it can't, shows none until you stop. It can't notice every share or recording, and whether other people can see them also depends on the call app and on macOS. We don't promise that they are hidden.
- The whisper is for headphones. Slotscoop plays it only on headphones or a headset, as far as it can tell from what macOS reports about the output device, or once you have confirmed that the device is a headset. Otherwise it shows the word on screen. Keep the volume at a comfortable level.
What you need: a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later), at least 8 GB of memory (16 GB recommended) and macOS 15 Sequoia or later; about 2.5 GB of free space for a one-time model download; an internet connection for that download and, with Pro, for keeping your license key up to date; and headphones for the whisper.
Slotscoop works with calls in English. Today, the whisper works when you think in Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian or Russian. Hints are English words, so they don't depend on the language you think in. Slotscoop starts by itself when common call apps use your microphone (for example Zoom, Google Meet in a browser, Microsoft Teams or Slack), and you can start it by hand for other calls.
3. Who can use Slotscoop
You must be at least 16 years old, and old enough to enter into a binding contract where you live, to use Slotscoop or buy Pro. If you use Slotscoop for an organization, you confirm that you may accept these terms for it, and "you" includes that organization.
4. Your licence to use Slotscoop
4.1 We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Slotscoop under these terms. A Pro subscription is for one person: you may use it yourself on up to 3 Macs that you own or control. Anyone else who wants Pro needs their own subscription.
4.2 You may not:
- sell, rent, lend, share or publish Slotscoop or your license key, or let anyone else use your key;
- get around the free trial, the license check, the macOS sandbox or any other protection in Slotscoop;
- copy, change, decompile or reverse-engineer the app, except where the law lets you do so even though a contract says otherwise.
4.3 Slotscoop, its design, the name "Slotscoop" and the Slotscoop logo belong to us or our licensors. These terms don't give you any right to use them except to use Slotscoop.
4.4 Open models and open-source parts. The speech and language models that Slotscoop downloads, and the open-source libraries and fonts inside the app, are made by other people and come with their own licences. You can read them in Slotscoop → Settings → About → Open-source licenses. Those licences apply to those parts, and nothing in these terms limits what they allow you to do.
5. The free trial
- The trial lasts 7 days and includes all features. It starts when you have set up Slotscoop and its models have finished downloading.
- No card, no account. The trial is counted on your Mac. We don't know who is trying Slotscoop.
- When the 7 days are over, the trial simply ends. Nothing is charged, and the trial never turns into a subscription by itself.
- After the trial, the whisper, hints and Understanding stop until you get Pro. The journal (Your words and Their phrases) and your settings stay on your Mac.
- One free trial per person, please.
6. Pro: plans, prices and payment
6.1 Plans. Pro is a subscription with two plans:
- Yearly: $59, charged once a year. To compare it with the monthly plan, we also show it as "$4.92 a month" — $59 divided by 12, rounded to the nearest cent. You pay it in one charge of $59 a year, not month by month.
- Monthly: $9, charged every month.
Prices are in US dollars and include tax (VAT or sales tax): the price you see is the price you pay. If checkout offers you your local currency and you pay in it, checkout shows the amount before you pay; that amount can differ a little from one payment to the next because of exchange rates, while your price in US dollars stays the same. If your card is in another currency, your bank may charge its own fee.
6.2 Who sells Pro. Pro is sold by Link, a service of Stripe ("Link"), which is the merchant of record — the seller — of your subscription. Link takes your payment, calculates and pays sales tax and VAT, sends your receipts, and handles billing questions and disputes. Emails about your purchase, such as receipts and any renewal notices, come from Link or Stripe, not from us: we email you only to answer a message you sent us, or where the law requires us to write to you. Checkout shows Link's own terms, which also apply to your purchase. These terms govern Slotscoop itself. Because Link is the seller, your receipt comes from Link, and your bank statement may show Link's name rather than ours.
6.3 How to buy.
- In Slotscoop (Get Pro): checkout opens in your web browser; after you pay, Pro turns on in Slotscoop by itself.
- Outside Slotscoop — for example, with a checkout link from our support: after you pay, a page shows your license key. Paste it in Slotscoop → Settings → Get Pro → Paste a key (if Pro is already on: Settings → Plan → Paste a key).
6.4 Buying during your free trial. If you buy Pro inside Slotscoop while your trial has more than 2 days left, you keep your free days: your subscription starts at once, and your first payment is taken when your trial ends. Slotscoop and checkout show the date. If 2 days or less are left, or if you buy outside Slotscoop, the first payment is taken on the day you subscribe.
6.5 Automatic renewal. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each paid period — each month or each year — and Link charges the payment method you used, until you cancel (section 7). Each renewal costs your plan's price, which stays the same for as long as your subscription stays active (section 6.6). If the law where you live gives you more rights about renewals — for example, a reminder before a yearly plan renews, or the right to end a renewed plan early and get back the part you haven't used — you have those rights too, and we honour them.
6.6 Your price stays. For as long as your subscription stays active, without a break, it keeps the price you subscribed at — at every renewal, and also when you switch between Monthly and Yearly: you then pay the price that plan had when you subscribed. Discounts from promotional codes last only as long as their own conditions say (section 6.10).
6.7 New prices. We may change our prices at any time, but new prices apply only to new subscriptions. If your subscription ends and you subscribe again later, the prices of that time apply.
6.8 Your license key. After you pay, you get a license key — a signed code that Slotscoop checks on your Mac. It is your proof of purchase; there is no account. Keep it safe. It isn't emailed, and because there is no account, we can't promise to recover a lost key. Even without the key, you can still cancel your subscription (section 7).
6.9 Keeping Pro on. About once a week — and once a day around the end of each paid period — Slotscoop's network helper sends your license key to key.slotscoop.com to get an updated key. If it can't reach us — for example, because you are offline — Pro keeps working for up to 7 days after the end of your paid period. If a renewal payment fails, Pro also keeps working for 7 days so you can update your payment method. After that, we may switch off the whisper, hints and Understanding until the payment goes through; Pro then comes back when Slotscoop next updates your key.
6.10 Promotional codes and free keys. Promotional codes and free keys follow the conditions that come with them. They can't be sold or exchanged for money.
7. Cancelling and changing plans
- Cancel anytime: Slotscoop → Settings → Plan → Manage subscription opens your subscription page at Stripe in your browser.
- Lost your key, or your Mac? Write to support@slotscoop.com from the email address you used at checkout, and we will cancel the subscription for you.
- Cancelling stops all future payments. Pro stays on until the end of the period you have already paid for. Then the whisper, hints and Understanding stop. The journal and your settings stay on your Mac.
- Deleting Slotscoop from your Mac doesn't cancel your subscription.
- Switching plans: you can switch between Monthly and Yearly on the same page. The switch happens right away; Stripe credits the unused part of your current period against the new plan and shows you the amount before you confirm.
- Except as section 8 says, we don't refund the rest of a period when you cancel.
8. Refunds
8.1 14-day money-back. If Slotscoop isn't right for you, email support@slotscoop.com within 14 days after your first payment, and we will refund that payment in full — no questions asked. Forgot to cancel a yearly plan? The same applies within 14 days after a yearly renewal payment. Link sends the refund to your original payment method. The money-back on a first payment applies once per person: if you subscribe again after a refund, it doesn't apply again.
8.2 A refund ends that subscription at once, and with it your right to use Pro. Pro switches off on your Mac the next time Slotscoop updates your key — usually within a week.
8.3 Monthly renewal payments are not refundable once charged, unless the law or Link's policies say otherwise.
8.4 Link may also refund a payment under its own rules — for example, if you ask Link about a charge and we don't answer in time. Such a refund also ends the subscription.
8.5 Your rights under the law. Nothing in these terms limits the rights the law gives you. For example, in the EU and the UK, consumers can usually withdraw from an online purchase within 14 days. The money-back in 8.1 gives you at least that much time.
8.6 Before you dispute a charge with your bank, please write to us. We can usually fix it faster.
9. Your data
Slotscoop processes what you say and what you hear on your Mac. It never sends sound or text anywhere. The Privacy Policy explains what Slotscoop saves on your Mac, what our servers see when you download the models or renew your key, and what Link handles when you pay.
The words and phrases Slotscoop saves (the journal: "Your words" and "Their phrases") live on your Mac, not with us. We have no copy, so we can't restore them if your Mac is lost. Back up your Mac if they matter to you.
10. Using Slotscoop responsibly
- Our Acceptable Use Policy is part of these terms. In short: Slotscoop is for your own speech, on calls where you may use it. Don't use it in exams, tests, assessments or interviews whose rules forbid outside help, and don't use it to deceive anyone.
- If you allow it, Slotscoop listens to the other people on your call — on your Mac, without recording them — to understand the topic and, with Understanding, to explain phrases they use. Laws, workplace rules and contracts about this differ between countries and companies. Some may require you to tell the other people, or to get their consent. You are responsible for following the rules that apply to your calls. If you can't, choose "Skip this call" or "Stop listening", or switch off Slotscoop's access to call audio in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording.
- Follow the terms of the call apps you use.
11. Other companies' products and services
Slotscoop works next to call apps such as Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Slack, and it uses features of macOS, such as its voices and its spell checker. Checkout and your subscription page are run by Stripe and Link. We are not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by these companies. Their names are their trademarks. Their own terms apply to their products, and we are not responsible for them.
12. Updates and changes to Slotscoop
- Updates. We improve Slotscoop over time. Slotscoop's updater checks download.slotscoop.com for a new version about once a day (never during a call), and you can check yourself in Slotscoop → Settings → About. It asks you before it installs an update, unless you have told it to install updates automatically. During your subscription, we provide the updates needed to keep Slotscoop secure and Pro working.
- Models. After you click Download — during setup, or later — Slotscoop downloads its models once (about 2 GB) from download.slotscoop.com. Before using a file, Slotscoop checks it against a fingerprint built into the app. We may update the models.
- Changes. We may change, add or remove features. If a change makes Pro clearly worse for you during a period you have paid for, we will tell you in advance. You may then cancel and get back the unused part of what you paid for that period.
- If we stop Slotscoop. If we ever stop offering Slotscoop or Pro, this doesn't affect the rights that mandatory consumer law gives you.
13. Our rights and your feedback
Slotscoop is protected by intellectual-property laws. Apart from the licence in section 4 and the open-source licences in section 4.4, these terms don't give you any rights in Slotscoop. If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them freely, without paying you or owing you anything. You never have to send us any.
14. No warranties beyond the law
To the extent the law allows, Slotscoop is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don't promise that Slotscoop will catch every pause or word, that its words will be right or suitable, that it will work with every Mac, call app, microphone, pair of headphones or accent, or that it will run without interruptions or errors.
If you are a consumer, you keep the rights the law gives you. For example, in the EU and the UK, digital content you pay for must match the contract for as long as you are subscribed. Nothing in these terms limits those rights.
15. Limits on our liability
- To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damage, or for lost profits, revenue, business, data or goodwill.
- To the extent the law allows, our total liability for all claims about Slotscoop is limited to the greater of (a) what you paid for Slotscoop in the 12 months before the claim arose, and (b) €100.
- Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that can't be limited by law — including liability for intent, gross negligence or fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or under consumer law.
16. Claims caused by business use
If you use Slotscoop for a business and someone makes a claim against us because you broke these terms, the Acceptable Use Policy or the law while using Slotscoop, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of that claim, including reasonable legal fees. This section doesn't apply to consumers where the law doesn't allow it.
17. Ending these terms
- You can stop using Slotscoop at any time. To stop paying, cancel your subscription (section 7).
- We may suspend or end your licence, and cancel your subscription, if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy — for example, by selling or sharing keys, or by using Slotscoop to cheat or deceive. Where it makes sense, we will tell you first and give you a reasonable chance to fix the problem.
- If we end your subscription although you haven't broken these terms, this doesn't affect the rights that mandatory consumer law gives you.
- When your licence ends, you must stop using Pro. Sections 13 to 16 and 18 to 20 continue to apply.
18. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cyprus, and the courts of Cyprus have jurisdiction over disputes about them or about Slotscoop. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in the courts there.
If something goes wrong, please write to us first — we would like to solve it directly. We are not obliged to use an alternative dispute resolution body, and we don't use one.
19. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms — for example, when Slotscoop or the law changes. The current version, with its date, is always at slotscoop.com/terms. If a change matters, we will tell you in Slotscoop or on slotscoop.com before it takes effect. A change that affects a paid subscription takes effect at its next renewal, and at least 30 days after we tell you, unless the law requires it sooner. If you don't agree, you can cancel before then. A change never takes away a period you have already paid for.
20. Other legal terms
- Whole agreement. These terms, with the Privacy Policy and the Acceptable Use Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about Slotscoop. Link's terms cover the purchase itself.
- Invalid parts. If a court finds part of these terms invalid, the rest stays in force.
- Transfer. We may transfer these terms to a company that takes over Slotscoop; your rights under them don't change. You may not transfer them without our agreement.
- No waiver. If we don't enforce a right straight away, we don't give it up.
- Events outside our control. Neither of us is responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside reasonable control.
- Language. These terms are written in English. If we translate them, the English text governs, unless consumer law says otherwise.
